Unplanned Outages

A power cut could be due to a widespread outage, or a localised fault within your tenancy or property.

·       If power lines are down or you observe other hazards, keep well clear.  Treat all electrical lines and equipment as if it’s live and dangerous.

·       Switch off equipment like heaters or sensitive electronic equipment if you’re confident you can safely do so.

·       Tell your building manager.  If you cannot reach them, call us anytime on 0800 359 500.  If possible, have your unique ICP (Installation Control Point) number located on your electricity invoice ready when you call.

·       Be prepared for unplanned outages by keeping a well-stocked emergency kit with essential supplies.

Safety Notice:  Your safety is paramount.  If you believe a power outage poses an immediate health risk to you or others, contact emergency services (111) or seek medical assistance immediately.

Planned Outages

Sometimes, a power outage will be planned to carry out required maintenance work.  To minimise any inconvenience to you and give you as much time as possible to make alternative plans, your building manager will give you notice before any planned power outage.  However, certain emergency maintenance may require shorter notice.  

Other Potential Causes of Power Loss

Power may also be disrupted by overloaded circuits or faulty equipment.  You may check if any fuses are blown or if switches are in the off position.  Do not attempt repairs or engage with electrical infrastructure directly.  Contact a qualified electrician if you suspect an equipment fault.
