Introducing Tenco Insights
Welcome to our latest edition of Between the Lines, Tenco's publication, highlighting our capability, people, and ideas. First up, we discuss a question that repeatedly crosses our desks, what are the key differences between New Zealand and Australian domiciled Embedded Networks? Michael Peters, Tenco's Senior Commercial Manager, explains this. Also, in this edition, Andrew Price, Tenco's GM of Operations and Digital Transformation, talks about the upcoming release of our new and improved Tenco Insights platform. We also get to know Gordon Napier, Tenco's Head of Client Services.
Recap of our Embedded Networks in New Zealand & Australia Article
Tenco often gets asked about embedded networks from Australian property developers or clients with Australian based retail tenants. We discuss common misconceptions and the most common questions from our Australian based clients.

In the article we discuss how embedded networks are structured so that tenants or residents do not pay a higher price for power, are protected by market regulatory frameworks and can select their own retailer.

What's Coming Up?
Winter 2022 will see us commence the rollout of our new and improved 'Tenco Insights' platform across our embedded network client base. Tenco Insights is a suite of influential reports that enable you to review various performance metrics and key statistics, increasing awareness of how your facility performs.
Tenco Insights is a no-cost solution for our existing clients and provides monthly consumption values and performance indicators and highlights maximum demand and low power factor events. A heat map report retrieves hourly-average resource use for an average week and visually identifies anomalies and resource use patterns.
What's New?
High electricity prices...
A combination of factors is pushing up prices. The market remains sensitive to high coal prices, high carbon prices, a prolonged trend of low hydro inflows, skewed North and South Island hydro storage, generation outages, gas outages, and La Nina. Collectively, forward prices reflect all these factors as participants' factors in cost and risk.
Covid-19
As the wave of cases continues around New Zealand, Tenco takes steps to ensure that we comply with the Covid-19 protection framework (traffic lights) and public health response orders. Tenco continues to operate as usual, with all employees fully vaccinated. Currently, there are no restrictions on the services provided, and it is business as usual with all staff capable of working remotely. However, we are beginning to hear about some potential supply chain constraints and delays related to metering.
Tenco Road Show
Following an invitation from Beca Group, Nick Price, Tenco Managing Director and Michael Peters, Tenco's Senior Commercial Manager, recently presented to Engineering New Zealand. In a world of Zoom and Microsoft Teams fatigue, attendance at the session was strong, with 150+ registrants welcoming the opportunity to learn more about private utility networks. Engineers are sitting at the forefront of new developments well before they're made public and are increasingly interested in implementing private utility networks into their developments during the construction phase. Nick and Mike will be performing a roadshow later in the year to engineering companies; hence this event was a great introduction to the concept for many.
